DEMO Day w/ Mrs. Kump

In Mrs. Kump's Engineering and Technology class, Seventh grade students researched concepts related to dragsters and rockets.  The students who completed dragsters used the engineering design process to brainstorm and develop a design for a dragster made from balsa wood.  A CO2 cartridge was used to power the dragster.  Students then compared the race times related to the weight and design of the dragster.  The students who completed the rockets used a detailed model rocket kit that required precise measurements and the following of multi-step directions. The completed product was then launched.  If all things are done correctly, then the rocket launches and the parachute engages to allow for safe retrieval.
